About BoxartWe are a premier fine art crating and logistics company specializing in the safe handling, custom crating, transportation, storage, and installation of artwork for galleries, museums, artists, collectors, auction houses, and corporate clients.Our reputation is built on precision, exceptional customer service, and protecting some of the world\'s most valuable and irreplaceable works of art.Position SummaryWe are seeking two full-time, experienced Packers and Fabricators to join our Packing Department:One Day Crew Packer, working approximately 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMOne Evening Crew Packer, working approximately 12:00 PM–8:00 PMBoth positions are hands-on production roles involving the packing, preparation, and protection of artwork for transport, exhibitions, storage, and installation.Our Packers work with a wide range of artworks and materials and are responsible for developing and executing safe, precise, and efficient packing solutions.
Candidates should have strong fabrication skills, good spatial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across our Packing, Crating, Design, and Production teams.Day Crew PositionThe Day Crew Packer will work both in-house at our facility and onsite at client locations, full-time, Monday–Friday, from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM with some variation depending on project needs.Responsibilities may include:Packing and unpacking artwork in-house and onsitePreparing artwork for transport, storage, exhibition, and installationFabricating custom packing, fitting, cushioning, and support solutionsMeasuring artwork and documenting packing requirementsPreparing and fitting crate interiors and packing componentsAssisting with installations and onsite packing projectsWorking directly with project managers, clients, registrars, conservators, and other art-service professionals as neededTroubleshooting packing and handling challenges in the fieldReading and following cut sheets, measurements, packing instructions, and project specificationsEvening Crew PositionThe Evening Crew Packer will work primarily in-house at our facility from approximately 12:00 PM–8:00 PM and will focus on preparing artwork, crates, and components for upcoming projects.Responsibilities may include:Packing and unpacking artwork in-houseFabricating custom packing, fitting, cushioning, and support solutions for individual artworksPreparing crates and packing components for upcoming projectsFabricating foam, board, archival, and other custom interior componentsFitting completed packing components and artwork into cratesPreparing, organizing, and staging materials for upcoming packing projectsAssisting with crate interiors, fitting, and finishingReading and following cut sheets, measurements, packing instructions, and project specificationsWorking with Packing, Crating, Design, and Production staff to troubleshoot and develop packing solutionsMaintaining an organized, clean, and safe production workspaceBoth positions will have access to a fully equipped carpentry and fabrication shop, tools, equipment, and a wide range of packing and specialty materials.Experience and QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with experience in fine art packing, fabrication, museum preparation, art handling, art installation, carpentry, construction, or related technical fields.A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in a fabrication studio, art services company, museum, gallery, workshop, or similar environment is preferred.Strong candidates will demonstrate:Experience safely handling and packing artwork or similarly fragile and valuable objectsStrong hands-on fabrication and problem-solving skillsFamiliarity with packing and fabrication materialsAbility to take accurate measurements and follow detailed instructionsStrong attention to detail and qualityAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyGood communication and organizational skillsCommitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional workspaceOptional PortfolioIf you have photographs of previous work that demonstrate skills or experience relevant to these positions, we welcome you to include a portfolio with your application.This might include examples of custom packing, fabrication, crate interiors, foam or archival components, mounts or supports, carpentry, art handling, installation, or other related technical work that demonstrates fabrication skills.
