Pierre Huyghe Studio is seeking a Los Angeles-based freelance conservator specializing in time-based media and digital art conservation to support the technical assessment and documentation of a media artwork by Pierre Huyghe.The work consists of custom wearable sculptural masks integrating cameras, Raspberry Pi computers, sensors, audio components, batteries, and dedicated software.

The work uses computer vision to recognize elements in its surroundings and produce spoken responses through a dedicated software system.Location: Los Angeles, CADates: several on-site days between November 9–20, 2026, coordinated around unpacking, technical interventions, testing and repacking(exact dates to be coordinated).Scope of WorkWorking alongside the Studio\'s software and hardware specialists, the conservator will:Conduct condition assessments of the artwork\'s physical and electronic components.Document the artwork during unpacking, technical interventions, testing, and repacking.Assist with functional assessments of cameras, connections, power systems, and other electronic components.Document technical modifications and identify potential conservation risks.Prepare condition reports and recommendations supporting the artwork\'s long-term preservation.Ideal ProfileWe are looking for a conservator with experience in time-based media, digital or technology-based artworks, preferably within contemporary art institutions or private conservation practices.Familiarity with electronic systems, software-dependent artworks, and conservation documentation is highly desirable.The Studio\'s technical specialists will be present throughout the working period, so advanced programming or hardware engineering expertise is not required.
