Luhring Augustine is looking for undergraduate or recent graduate, with a background or concentration in art history and/or studio art, to join our team as an intern part-time for the Fall. Applicants must be willing to commit to 2-3 days per week, 10am until 6pm, ideally with Tuesday-Thursday availability, from September through December. Luhring Augustine is a contemporary art gallery, representing a roster of international artists. Monthly exhibitions showcase the work of these artists, ranging from painting, photography, sculpture and installations to video.
The gallery also provides services on the secondary market with modern and contemporary work on resale.
This internship provides first-hand experience of the contemporary art world, and offers the opportunity of working directly with the artists and staff of an internationally recognized gallery.Gallery intern responsibilities include:Providing front desk administrative support by welcoming visitors, managing incoming calls, directing inquiries, and offering information about current exhibitions and gallery programming.Conducting research and archival work to support sales and exhibitions, including compiling fact sheets with exhibition histories, publication records, provenance, and collection details.Assisting with facility upkeep by organizing storage areas and maintaining supplies in shared spaces such as the kitchen and stockrooms.Supporting daily operations through administrative assistance, including preparing mailings, coordinating deliveries, and completing occasional errands.Contributing to the planning and execution of gallery events, including exhibition openings, artist talks, and walkthroughs in both the gallery\'s Chelsea and Tribeca locations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required and a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is a plus.
