Operations Manager / Art Handler

Our Upper East Side gallery specializing in Surrealist, Modern, and Post-War Art has an opening for Operations Manager. This role is ideal for an experienced Operations Manager or Art Handler ready to step into a position of greater responsibility.

The successful candidate will ensure our gallery facilities operate at the highest standards and support the preservation and presentation of artworks.Ideal Candidate ProfileProven Experience: Background as an Operations Manager or senior Art Handler with a track record of success and leadership.Organizational Excellence: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Proactive Mindset: Continuously seeks ways to improve gallery systems, workflows, and operational efficiency.Detail-Oriented: Maintains the gallery’s appearance and ensures all facilities are impeccably maintained.Calm Under Pressure: Thrives in a dynamic environment and can manage tight deadlines with composure.Team Player with Independence: Works effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.Primary ResponsibilitiesGallery Operations: Serve as the main point of contact for all gallery services, contractors, and vendors.Facility Management: Oversee the upkeep, presentation, and continuous functioning of all gallery spaces, ensuring they meet the highest standards.Art Handling: Collaborate closely with the Registrar to guarantee the safe handling and storage of artworks.Vendor Coordination: Manage and coordinate with external service providers for fabrication needs, framing, conservation, and other specialized services.System Improvement: Regularly assess current operations and identify opportunities for enhancements in procedures and service delivery.Hours: Mon – Friday 9:30am-6:00pm, occasional Saturdays during exhibitions Experience handling high-value artworks required.
