Sugarlift is a founder-led contemporary art consultancy working at the intersection of art and design. We partner with leading developers, architects, and interior designers to deliver site-specific art programs for residential, hospitality, and commercial projects, working directly with today’s contemporary artists.ABOUT THE ROLESugarlift is seeking experienced NYC-based art handlers and installers for part-time work in our Long Island City studio and at client sites throughout New York City.
This role requires excellent technical judgment, care around valuable artwork and finished interiors, and professional conduct in client-facing environments.
Schedules will be coordinated in advance based on active projects.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Receive, inspect, condition-report, pack, unpack, and safely move artwork• Measure, lay out, install, and deinstall two-dimensional artwork, mirrors, sculpture, and pedestals• Work confidently with cleats, security hardware, hanging systems, ladders, and laser levels• Protect artwork and finished interiors throughout each installation• Coordinate professionally with clients, designers, contractors, building staff, and Sugarlift project managers• Document completed installations with accurate notes and photographs• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environmentKEY REQUIREMENTS• Demonstrated professional art-handling and installation experience• Prior experience with a gallery, museum, auction house, artist studio, art consultancy, or fine-art services company• Exceptional care, precision, punctuality, and judgment• Professional and calm in occupied residential and commercial spaces• NYC-based• Ability to perform the essential lifting, carrying, and ladder functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodationA PLUS, BUT NOT REQUIRED• Valid driver’s license and experience driving a van or box truck• Crate-building experience• Professional framing experience
